If you want the Dock to only show the Icons for Applications that is currently running, then there's a simple Terminal command that allows you to do just that. With Only Seconds To Spare...Let's Get Started Simply Launch Terminal, found in the Other Folder after Opening Launchpad or in the Utilities Folder within the Applications Folder. Now just type the following commands exactly as shown in Terminal: (Note...commands are case sensitive) defaults write com.apple.dock static-only -bool True Then relaunch the Dock with the following command: killall Dock To revert back to the default setting, retype or copy and paste the same commands in Terminal, replacing True with False and relaunch the Dock. defaults write com.apple.dock static-only -bool False Then relaunch the Dock: killall Dock And that's all there is to it.
